I sorry to have to say this IPW, but your new website fonts are difficult to read. The default font size is too big. And only some of your pages font sizes respond to the Text Size setting on the View menu of Internet Explorer. Also the slidebars on the charts jump around like crazy when moving them left or right. Your old website was alot easier to use.

Hi Sean, thanks for the feedback, I've emailed you for some more information so we can help get to the bottom of what you are seeing.

love the new user-friendly site - thanks for all your efforts! i'm out of loop a little as I now live in the UK, can you please let me know why you are tracking rental falls - with the current market, there will be less property to rent and more people interested in renting while they ride this market out?

WB says:
2008-04-27 18:09:53
mmosulli, we are tracking rentals as we feel they are an important indicator of the demand for property in Ireland. Interestingly there is now an increase in the number of properties for sale and number of properties for rent. This could indicate a few things:
  • Less people are looking to rent
  • More properties have been made available to rent. This could be due to either investors who could not sell are putting properties back on market or investors who never bothered renting before need the rent due to drops in the value of their investment.
  • The number of people who are holding off buying is not enough to increase rental demand
These are all interesting indicators for the heath of the property market as a whole.

Guys Previously you had made availabel excel sheets listing for each and every property the original price and numbers of drops to date, since the analysis began(sa sort of cuumulative analysis file). Is it possible to get this analysis still. It would be ideal to educate a relative in how many drops there have been, the increasing frequency and size of drops. Specifically looking at Balbriggan and want to demonstrate that 10% off is nothing spectacular.

Mr. X says:
2008-04-28 13:50:53
I mss the Excel sheets. Any chance of adding them back. Also when you sort on a report by percentage drop, you are treating them as strings and not numberic, so the sort order is incorrect.

Hello, I'm Ivan and I'm a journalist working for Belgian public television. I want to make a piece for our news programme about the plummeting housing-market. I'm desperately looking for someone who's seen the value of his or her property declined considerably over the last couple of months/years. If anyone's willing to do an interview, please call (00 32 2 741 66 86) or email: ivan.ollevier@vrt.be. I'll bring a box of Belgian chocolates... or Belgian beer... Thanks! Thanks!

This website is a disgrace, I have just viewed my property on this site. No wonder I am having difficulties selling my house with websites like this. The sellers market is difficult enough besides people watching for house prices to fall below there original cost

Just a suggestion about your graphs. Could you also include some text below the graph that displays the figures as i find that sometimes the figures on the graph obscure each other. Otherwise the site is very good, very informative. Keep up the good work.

Hi Please look at Tranquil Glen, Killowen Lower, Arklow, Co. Wicklow. We have lowered our price for 2009, to cut through all the crap of questioning the right timing of house buying as we want to move on. We've knocked €70,000 off asking price. Total bargain.

Thomas says:

Could you have a look at your "advanced search" functionality. Whatever selection I make, I got 0 results found. I managed to get some results once but then if you change your criteria - you got 0 results again. Thanks.

Hi, I am new to this site, I am interested in price drops in Adamstown, Lucan and specifically the Paddocks in Adamstown. Any information would be really useful as currently negotiating re price.

Ms C says:

IPW, just wondering where you obtain your facts from on whether a rental property has had a price increase or drop? I looked up a house I had been inerested in, that the landlord increased the rent on as soon as he saw that there was interest in the property, but there seems to be no record of his price increase ever existing. Are the letting agents not obliged to pass on all information correctly?
